infants and sleep

infants sleep a lot. when i first brought him home he was always sleeping and now he is up a little bit during the day. i try to vaccum and do lots of loud things during the day but he sleeps through it all. when will he start staying awake more during the day? does it go by weight?

  • Actually the sound of a vacuum will probably help a baby sleep! Any constant noises like that will..... My girl is 7 weeks and she's up for a few hours a day now in between naps. All babies are different so it's hard to know, but as he gets older he'll stay up more and more. Enjoy the peace :)

  • Some babies don't sleep on their own at all. They need to be held all the time. If they do fall asleep and you try to put them down they wake up.

    If you had drugs for labor or delivery that may be why your baby is so sleepy. Make sure you feed your baby often enough.
