  • Public housing is owned by the government. Section 8 has private owners, which have been given incentives to rent to low income families.

  • I personally would say Section 8 is better, but depending where you are it takes forever to even get on the list (& the list in our area is currently a 3-year wait). However, you have more independence that way, which I think would be a lot better. Go to your local government housing office & talk to a counselor about it, they'll give you the heads up on both & let you know which would better fit your personal needs.
