If using Tap Water for formula, can a baby get any mineral/vitamin poisoning?

  • Depends on if your city's filteration system have lots of minerals and vitamins in it.

  • I used tap water with both my babies and never thought about it honestly. They are fine.

  • It's not likely although your child can get stains and spots (white, yellow, or brown) on their teeth from using fluoridated water like store bough 'baby water'.

  • The ADA says NOT to mix baby's formula with fluoridated water anymore. Will cause dental fluorises. Look into getting a water that was filtered using Reverse Osmosis. I get Primo Water.

  • I don't think so. At our 4 mos. visit this week, my doc. just told us we can use tap water to mix formula. He said, "if you can drink the water, baby can drink the water.' He says boiling it is mostly if you live in a third world country.
