how many references would you want before hiring a nanny?

I know the more the better but I'm curious how many I should give to a prospective family. thanks.

  • I would say at least 5 and I make sure they were from not friends or family but from old jobs, talk to their old bosses or families where they were before and also I always ask for a full background (including criminal)
    Maybe I am a little extreme but I do not trust anybody with my babies ( do you think am i being a little paranoid ? )

  • Haha! My cousin worked as a nanny for many years, and she told me the average interview lasted 15 minutes, and only ONE family ever checked her references. If you check any, you will be doing more than most do.

    BTW, I believe the more the better.
