  • My kids can stay up all night, but they must be up and ready to face their day at 7am. Just like if they had a job.

  • My son stays up late at night, and would sleep all day if I let him. It is a normal teen thing I think. I hope this will pass.

  • My 13 year old stays up until about 11am and I let him sleep until about 10am. If we are out doing something later, I let him sleep later in the morning.

  • Most of the time my 14 y.o. will go to bed about midnight or one. Sometimes she's up 'til 3. When sh'es up she's watching stuff she's TIVO'd or playing a video game.

She wakes up anywhere from 9am to noon. Most of the time I let her sleep, but sometimes I wake her, just because I feel she should be up doing something productive. I haven't made up my mind on this one.

  • My oldest stepdaughter will stay up all night and go to bed when the other kids get up around 7 am then she don't get up until 3 or 4pm. Drives me nuts but my DH won't do anything about it.

  • Whatever she wants...if she does not have any plans the next day. Maybe this works because she is active most of the time so the few weeks available to her to stay up late & sleep in is a oddity. You are only young once. Enjoy it while you still have summer vacations.

  • I have stayed up with my kids until the wee hours. I always feel guilty about it, but we are home, reading books, or watching tv shows. My kids aren't out hurting anyone.
They are real good kids, really. So I guess it's best to decide on what works for your family.

  • I let my kids stay up but they need to set their alarms for their jobs, activities etc. If they are tired too bad. Plus they have to do whatever the chore of the day is before they go have fun.

  • My 13 yo is usually in bed by 10 or 10:30 pm and up by 8 or 8:30 am. I cut her a little slack in the summer, but not too much. I don't think anything good comes from staying up really late or wasting the day in bed. I do allow her to stay up later and sleep later if she has a sleep-over, but I don't think it's healthy to keep a schedule like that on a regular basis.
