  • Whatever is appropriate in your time and culture is appropriate according to the Bible so long as it isn't a sin. Jewelry in itself is not a sin. If you USE your jewelry to sin; THEN it's sin. i.e. perhaps walking around with your nipples exposed so that people can see your nipple rings might constitute causing others so fall into the sin of lust? lol. I think it's a stretch to say that jewelery is a sin or is banned by God.

There are references over and over again in the OT of the Isrealites wearing jewelery (it's how they made the Golden Calf).

In the NT: "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." (I Peter 3:3-4).

Again, it clearly doesn't say NOT to wear it just not to be vain.

  • cont. put back into context, the verse is talking about relationships between husbands and wives and God and how love of God and respect/obedience to your husband is your beauty rather than relying on outward appearances. Jewelry is not discouraged here; VANITY is. :-)
