Does your toddler have a problem with reoccurring constipation?

When DD was an infant she had the problem with hard stools but when she started baby food and i fed her high fiber food and problem was rare now at 2 she is going threw not eating spells and when she does it's select items that change from time to time. So now DD is getting constipated again cause stools are hard and she holds them. I am thinking about trying these fiber gummies i saw made by Fleet, Because i have using children's philips ever 3 days on her. Has any other mom used this product Fiber gummies by fleet and has any other parent had this problem with their kiddies'

  • Constant use of Children's Philips will make things far worse. Over use of any laxative will actually make it harder for her to go on her own.

Miralax is not a laxative. It is a stool softener. It simply traps water in her poop to keep her poop from getting hard. Consider putting her on a daily dose of that. Mine has been on it for over a year. She eats pretty well, drinks plenty of water but is still afraid to poop. If her poop gets hard at all, she panics and won't poop - for days. When she finally does go, it hurts - which just reinforces her fear. You can mix it into any liquid, it's colorless and tasteless.

If you go with the fiber gummies, make sure she drinks LOTS of fluid. Extra fiber without extra water actually makes things worse.

  • Have you looked into probiotics? Those will probably be a great help to her. They sell them at any health food store, they come in either capsules or powder form. You can sprinkle the powder into yogurt, on fruits, in anything cold really (it doesn't change the taste). They will help her digestive system start working properly. Let me know if you would like any more info.
