portuguese to make it.......

ive been looking up sites to make it but its saying to add ketchup and tomato sauce and stuff that i didnt think was in it.......ive never taseted tomatoes in it before....i really want to make some for my family my g-ma had the reciepe but she passed on and i forgot to ask for it.....i want the traditional way of making it......

  • Ok i don't know how to make it either. But my grandmother also used to make and my mom knows how, but i can't call her right now shes Soooo i've been searching for you, this one sounds like the she used to make, i'll call my mom later if you want to keep your question open. But heres this one i found any ways
    **Soupa de Feijaos
    Portuguese Bean soup**
    Serves 6-8
    Half pound of kidney or small red beans, soaked in water overnight
    1 linguica (about 10 ounces), sliced, fried, and drained
    2 ham hocks or ham shanks
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 large onion, chopped
    2 stalks celery, diced
    3 carrots, sliced
    1 potato, diced
    1 eight-ounce can tomato sauce
    4 cups cabbage, coarsely chopped
    watercress, cut in 1-inch pieces (optional)
