10 month old and biting

my daughter is 10 months and since she was 9 or 8 months she starting trowing tantrums. when she doesnt get her way she kicks, scream, crys, and now she trys to bite you. she bite me the other day that drew blood and left a mark. i thought this behavior wasnt untill like 2 or3? i thought its too early for disapline but i have to because its getting out of hand.. what should i do?

  • it may be a stage. my son is ten months and bites granted he doesn't have teeth yet, and is pretty mellow even when he doesn't get his way, so no tantrums from him, but try a firm sounding no, we don't bite. At this age spanking or time outs isn't going to work.

  • 10 mo. is a hard age to encounter the biting issue. Any big deal you make out of it will only make it worse (positive or negative). Firmly say "No biting, that hurts mommy" and move on. Biting should get her nowhere (i.e. whatever you do - don't give in!!!)

  • Give her a little bite back. Not real hard but enough to get the point across. If you can't do that just remove her far enough away from you every time she bites and don't pick her up for a minute until she gets over being mad at you.
