can I use this pan as a steamer?

I have a thick metal pasta strainer, with steamer size holes. It is heat tempored and I need to know if I can use it as a steamer, versus buying the small little fold up insertable variety?
thanks!

  • I'm sure you can Jen.....the steamer I have is the same material as my pasta drainer....I would use it if I were you.

  • I don't see why not, so long as it has a lid and isn't made of copper.

  • I've done it before but now I just steam veggies in the microwave w/ a little water and covered in plastic wrap. Corn on the cob we just soak in cold water and throw it - husk and all - in the microwave, about 5 min per ear. Can't beat it, it's so much easier than boiling it! And it comes out sweeter.
