how to help ease a belly ache?

My baby is 6 weeks and recently shes been getting really bad belly aches. Sometimes she eats so much her belly starts to hurt and she sends it all back up, thats happened just a few times. I burp her in between breasts. Someone suggested that I give her a botle of water with a peppermint in it to calm her belly. Have you heard of this?? Idk if im ready to give her a bottle yet, either. Thank You! :)

  • if she is having a tummy ache maybe only give her a lil bit of milk at a time and then wait a bit, that is if she is satisfied. If her tummy is really hurting Gripe Water works great to help settle babies lil tummy aches.

  • gripe water is a life saver!! also chamomile tea..make it like you normally would, but only give her about an ounce or 2 cuz shes still really young...try laying her on her belly, if she dosnt fuss then that means its soothing her, you can lightly pat her back while shes on her belly.

  • Yep - gripe water. The main ingredients are usually fennel (licorice flavor) and peppermint. Both have a long history of calming tummies. It's the main reason that most anti-acids are mint flavored.

  • Oh - and you'll find it at most drug stores. Just look in the antacid section, the baby medicine section, or ask the pharmacist.
