Health reform bill passes out of Comittee

While this is just the first step, Kennedy's health bill has passed committee with no Republicans amendments allowed. Republicans had no less than 5 amendments that would address Americas health needs. Obama is insisting on the fast track and we should all be worried about what we will end up with. Congress doesn't care what is enacted, just that it gets done by the August recess. Here is th emost recent article announcing it. This doesn't explain many aspects of the bill. Starting with how much is it going to cost YOU and where does the money come from to subsidize these so called poor people? (up to $88,000?). How is this going to lower medical costs? Your thoughts?

  • Beginning of a long process.

The savings come from different way of doing things, streamline and computerize records and the Insurance companies offered to make changes as well to benefit the program.

The 13-10 party line vote advanced a $600 billion measure that would require individuals to get health insurance and employers to contribute to the cost.

  • Subsidizing those who make less than $88,000?

Well, I guess we'll be subsidizing YOUR health care! '

Note to self...find more legal tax loopholes (write offs, charitable gifts/donations, investments, etc.) to hide money! Think I'm the only one? Not by a long shot!

    ONCE AGAIN sweets....

The government will FINE employers $750 per employee annually if they DON'T offer their employees health insurance, versus continuing to subsidize private plans for their employees at an average o $5000 per year!!!

If YOU were a business owner, and your corporate and personal taxes were eating up your profits, which would you do? Pay the $750 fine or continue to support your employee's plans at more than $4200 each?!

I'm thinking, like every other business trying to make it you would pay the fine!

Obama's isn't going to take away your private healthcare plan....you're "mean ol' bosses will! That's called SEMANTICS!!!

  • Many Dr.s offices already use this form of recordkeeping as do pharmacies and hospitals. Obama just wants you to think it was his idea and will save boo coos of money. this is not going to be a drop in the bucket as far as reducing costs. In fact it will probably raise them after the cost it takes to implement this in your Dr. office. (didn't think of that huh) We have no gaurantees of the pharmceutical companies and hospitals giving up some of their fees and if they do, the government is just going to use it somewhere else to pay for this plan. Thats not cutting your costs. How about those of you who do not have coverage. Are you wondering how much you will now have to pay? Even with a subsidy (that has to be paid for) there is going to be that forced amount either way. You will always have the choice to go to the Dr or not but soon, you will not have the choice to pay for that privilage Open your eyes, this is a crap shoot

  • My husbands employer issued a memo stating they will keep the plans they have in place assuming the costs don't go up drastically for them. They will also give pay increases if needed to offset costs if our healthcare is taxes. We are lucky but most companies are not going to be so generous. Why would they? Companies exist to make money not be a charity. Obama is a moron and so are any of the Congress that vote to put this in place.

What fantasy world are you living in?

Even if costs come down by half it will still be cheaper for employers to pay the fine that pay or help pay for insurance for employers. This is a power grab plain and simple.

  • By the way Sweet, Obama wants this done before the August break. A month is not A LONG TIME so the process will not be a long one if congress has it's way.

  • Gosh sweet, I don't know which idiotic statement to address first. I will start with the following:

The savings come from different way of doing things, streamline and computerize records and the Insurance companies offered to make changes as well to benefit the program.

The government has NEVER been able to streamline or find a better way to do ANYTHING.  A nationwide computerization of records is a violation of the HIPPA law..you know the privacy thing.  Your records are not to leave the provider without your written consent.
