Getting Blue Prints? (PIOG)

Does anyone know if I can get the blueprints to my mother-in-laws house offline? We (my SO, myself and her) are planning an add-on and I am going to draw up the basic plans, but I'm not sure how to go about getting the current blue prints so that everything can be drawn to scale. If I could get them offline that would be great!

Thanks for your help :)

  • I think you can check with your local building dept. most plans (at least some version) are on file. But be aware that they sometimes aren't current. They would be the original (so if the house is 50 years old and they added on once in the 70's it might not be represented). In that case you might have to pay for an architect to draw up a set for you.
