Credit Checks and no credit?

Can they do a credit check on you if you have no credit? My fiance is paying back school loans and is on time all the time, but he doesnt own a credit card. We are looking to move to a new place and they will do a credit check.

  • Well, they do a credit check and then they see that you have no credit.

You still have a credit report even without a history. It simply shows that you have no history.

  • If he has a loan, then he has a credit history. If he has ever had a ulilty or other account, then he has a credit history.

  • Yes, and most likely his school loan will show on his credit report. Also "rkoloms" is absolutely correct.

  • They just want to see that you are responsible with your credit. The school loans and the on time payments will show up on his credit report, and that will be favorable. Not having credit cards is a good thing, not a bad thing, so don't worry about it. They will see that he is responsible.

Well the good and bad to that is most utility companies do not report for good credit, they tend to only report neg. histories...
