  • What color are the curtains? Canisters?

Look at the colors in those, and go from there.

  • What color are your cabinets?

If you have dark colored cabinets, pale yellow, peach, creamy white, mauve, ocean blue would work! If you have white or light oak colored cabinets then a "punch" of burgundy, navy blue, dark brown, black, hunter green would look "crisp!"

We have white cabinets, with a charcoal gray granite I chose dark burgundy as a complimentary yet contrasting color. We also have an eat in kitchen and lots of windows, so I just added white lace valances to "soften" the look

  • a nice carmel brown or a soft mauvy taupe. pottery barn has great colors in their catalog, I think they sell paint too!
I love buttery yellow, but with the colors you are working looks great with things in the purple family and the white will really POP with this color.
brown ( like a fawn ) would help make it pop. You can even toy with a grey.
    good luck!
