  • In general, gastric bypass is considered to be an elective surgery and is rarely, if ever, covered by any insurance

    If you are overweight enough to be considering gastric bypass, then chances are that you have or are developing, type 2 diabetes. A low fat vegan diet is the healthiest for type 2 diabetics. You can get free meal plans and recipes from Dr. McDougall, or find his books at your local library:

  • I have also inquired about this, but possibly the lapband. Although I have a different insurance. The criteria for qualifying were over 40 BMI or 35 BMI with problems (diabetes, asthma, sleep apnea, back problems) and only if your doctor can document that you've tried to lose weight in other ways (diet, exercise, pills, etc and have been unsuccessful or gained it back).
    I checked this by reading through my insuance coverage plan online, you should check to see if you can check your coverage directly through the insurance.
    Regadless....your a HOT mama either way! ;)
