What is Pelosi squeezing?

Excerpts:

I hope we can change that percentage and get much more coming from savings,” Pelosi said. “In fact, I believe that all of the cost of the healthcare reform bill can come from squeezing more savings out of the system.”

Asked why Democrats were proposing more than $500 billion in new taxes if savings alone could fund their healthcare plan, Pelosi said: “We have to have a revenue stream to ensure that the bill will be paid for. If we don’t need that money we can use it to reduce the deficit. … There is going to be a revenue change at the high end. It will be directed to reduce the deficit or … to help reduce the cost of this initiative.

Isn't this just a plain-old tax increase — and a big one?

  • If she thinks it can ALL be paid for by SQUEEZING the system, why is medicare and medicaid about bankrupt. Shouldn't we be SQUEEZING savings to reform them for more efficiency and longevity?

  • They're just going to screw those who are on Medicare (seniors) by "squeezing" out over $600 billion in cuts from the program.

Interestingly enough AARP, whose sole purpose to advocate on behalf of seniors regarding these kinds of "reforms" has NOT officially come out against it!

They will also be squeezing what will be left of the middle class.

The AARP's sole interest is not seniors. They are a tool of the left. And they may be able to increase their sales of supplemental insurance.

  • I don't think she has been in 'production' for a long time now, anon.

She is just trying to placate those that are still any bit trusting of the government's actions. Some people who are for the health care initiative will believe what they have to to get what they think they want. Problem is, nobody knows really what it will be. I am still waiting for someone to bring to light ANY government program that isn't riddled with problems and that works efficiently. So far I have not heard one.

  • Pelosi's statement makes no sense. If you KNOW you can get it out of the budget, you do so. And as for paying down the deficit.... Hahahahaha

I guess Obama's promise of lowering the taxes for the middle class has disappeared in 6 short months.

  • Won't happen. CNN is still talking about MJ and MSNBC is explaining why the health care plan will actually cost more than what we are spending now.
