If the stimulus WAS NOT meant to stimulate economic recovery?

Why is the website called Recovery.gov?

"Turns out the $787 billion “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act” (AARA) WAS NOT DESIGNED for full economic recovery, but rather to “stabilize” the downturn. That’s the word from White House officials today, who held off-camera briefings with reporters on how the AARA is working so far."

  • They figured odds were better that Biden would remember how to spell Recovery since it's shorter?

  • "Recovery" sounds better than "stabilizing" (more of the same)--at least for those who continue to sing their high praises!! I'm sure some multi-billion dollar "think tank project" came to that conclusion! LOL

  • Oh please, when the idiots created it, it was never intended to be used as a recovery. They all knew it was a Democratic wish list, stupid Americans ate it up as a recovery plan and passed the thing without reading it. Another case of listening to Obama and not watching what he was doing. It doesn't matter what it is called, it's passed and we are all paying for it. Why would calling it a different name make it ok now, why would smarter conservatives think any different of it? Obama knows his braindead followers will continue to swallow his excremint regardless of the orifice it originates from.
And besides, it's classic knowledge that politicians pass controversials bills at the beginnings of terms to lessen the detrimental impact at election time. In 2011 Obama will start bringing in the bills Americans really like, so he can stump on them through Nov. while idiots forget what he did in the last 6 mos.

  • hot--do you think you could open up a thesaurus and find a different word for "stupid?" Words like "retardation" only serve to show your ignorance and lack of class--regardless of whether we agree on the subject or not.

  • I remember Obama saying that the stimulus would keep us from going into a free fall like the great depression where the unemployment figure hit 22%. So far it has kept us from going into a free fall. What is for certain is that if we had not passed a stimulus we would have a much higher unemployment rate right now.

  • Who is to say that it won't go higher, just at a slower rate, anon? That is what many of us are concerned about. Do you rip your bandaids off slowly, or quickly?

  • Uhmm....anon. The stimulus created a higher unemployment rate by more than 1%. You make no sense :50.
Prove to me that it kept us from going into a downward mode.
    I'm waiting.
