Items in the most recent health reform bill you don't know about.

Did you know this was included in what you will be paying for?

Things like- Addressing health disparities
Placing health professional in regions experiencing significant changes in cultural and linguistic demographics of populations including communities along the US Mexico Border.
Grants for training programs to test, develop and evaluate health professional training programs including continuing education.
Preferential grants given to those demonstrating the greatest % of health professionals in underserved communities.
Drug discounts for rural hospitals
Study on Medicare payments for language services.
Monies for Medicare for advanced care planning consultation, end of life services and benefits allowed under this title (guess thats when they tell you if you are worth saving.)

I could go on and on but there is so much here and it is so complicated there is no way you can scan it and know what it means.

  • end of life services...hhmmm, I wonder if they are going to stamp us with an expiration date and then throw us out when past it??

It also allows for payment of "on demand" abortions and requires private insurers to do the same.

  • What's wrong with drug discounts to rural hospitals?

If McCain had proposed this you'd all be praising it...

  • I don't think they are complaining, Yoshi, it's just there is A LOT in the bill! It's not just about offering health care to the uninsured, it's about vaccinations and Medicare cuts, providing health care to illegal aliens, and many, many other things. It's a little too all-encompassing for me. Birth to death, the government will have it's finger on your pulse.

  • Alarmingly, most of the sections in the bill state that the standards, and the requirements, and the levels of care, and all those details will be created by "the Director" AFTER the bill is PASSED into law ! The Director and other people will be appointed by Ms Sebelius - with no supervision by any elected official, so the entire Universal Health Care bureaucracy will be immune to public reactions.

If you glance at the identities of all the myriad people Obama has appointed since Day 1, it is impossible to make sense of his choices - they have NO experience or education in the field they are supposed to run at the national level, or they have conflict-of-interest, or suspicious associates. The only way to make sense of it is to see that these are rewards to cronies - corrupt favoritism.

And if we fool ourselves that this would not happen with these Health Care appointments, then we're idiots.

  • Here's just one example. One section says that private practice doctors and clinics can get onto the list of gov't approved health providers, as long as they "qualify".

Allright. What will they need to do to "qualify"? It doesn't say !! Those details will be "determined by the Director" (who will be appointed AFTER the bill has passed). ... One qualificaiton looks like it is going to be in place - that every gov't-approved doctor or clinic offer abortions.

What? You aren't a doctor / nurse who could sleep at night after holding a killed or dis-membered baby in your hands? ( Sorry to be so graphic, but we're talking about gov't requirements here. ) Then, sorry - no gov't healthcare patients for you.
