Do you think an almost 4 yo should be allowed to watch TV till they fall asleep?

In their bed, a cartoon movie?

  • No I don't. I don't think kids should have Tv in thier rooms as such a young age.

  • NO I don't. There is no reason for a 4 YO to hear television in order to fall asleep. Pop in a CD of soothing music if they need noise.

  • We don't allow TVs in our bedrooms. I agree that reading a book, playing a soft cd, or even a fan for white noise is a much better option.

  • I would say definitely not. If a child needs something to soothe them to sleep other healthier options would be reading books, telling bedtime stores, or listening to classical music (or some other type of calming music). Television shortens children's attention spans and lessons their ability to think creatively. TV in moderation during the day is fine, but I think that it is too visually stimulating for bedtime and would also worry that the child would become addicted to having that as their bedtime routine.

  • I used a cd to help my son fall asleep. I let him watch tv at quiet/nap time because he doesn't always sleep. He is not allowed to watch it at night though. He has a tv in his room because we have a small apt and I don't want to always watch the kids shows and he needs the background noise.
