switch to big girl bed

my daughter is turning two tomorrow!
she recently loves to climb onto our bed and get under the covers and is content to just lay there, she has adopted one of her sisters fuzzy pillows and carries it everywhere. we were thinking of moving her to big girl bed for christmas, she is in a crib but has an unoccupied twin in her bedroom
any ideas in the next few months to get her ready, things we did not consider, we were going to get a mesh railing?
she will be getting a fuzzy blanket for her birthday, bigger than baby blanket, smaller than a twin comforter, thought she could have in crib then take to the twin??
more ideas
thanks

  • try taking the side off that goes up and down on her crib and see how she does with that..watch to see how much she moves around at night...or you could try to put her in the twin bed for naps, and start converting that way..we just got my dd a toddler bed bc she wouldnt sleep in her crib, and i was tired of having her in the playpen in our room...my dd is 13 mos. old, if that helps you any..your dd will do fine, just check on her a few times a night to start with and make sure you do the side rails just to be safe..good luck girl!
