Sleep for a 1 year old

My 1 yo seems to sleep a lot. She sleep 12-14 hours at night and still needs 2-3 naps a day (about 1 1/2 -2 hours). I was wondering when your toddlers gave up some of their naps. I think that if she needs to sleep then I will let her sleep but she has slept a lot since she was an infant.

  • Some kids need more sleep than others. Just follow her lead. If she is napping and then going to bed without any problem, then you have nothing to worry about. However, if she is napping and then fighting sleep at bedtime, it might be time to give up naps. My son is 13 months old, he takes at least one 1 1-2 hour nap a day. Sometimes he takes an evening nap, but lately, I've been pushing him to skip it so he goes to bed at 9pm rather than 10pm. (He wakes up at 9:30am, naps between 12pm-1pm, wakes up by 3pm... -sometimes- naps around 6... and I have him in bed by 9:30-10pm.)

  • Yep, some kids need more than others.
Mine dropped to one nap at 14 months. She's nearly 3 now and still gets about 13 hours a day.

  • Mine sounds like yours. She wakes up at 8:30, naps from 11-1, naps from 4:30-5:30/6ish, then goes down for the night at 8:15ish. She loves her sleep.
