easel?

I think I saw it on Super Nanny once that you can put things on the walls specifically for children to color. Like dry erase boards if the kids have a wall coloring problem. My DD (21mos) is just starting to and I always catch it, so it's not quite a problem yet. But I'm thinking about getting her an easel to draw on so she's not stuck with just a coloring book. Then I worry it'll interest her in coloring other things. Good idea? Or might actually encourage wall coloring? What do you think?

  • I think it's a great idea! For wall coloring though, I just got a bunch of paper and taped it to the wall at their level, and they could color on that.

  • I second the paper on the wall thing.
Buy a Big roll or something, and line her room in it!

DH says that since she doesn't have a wall coloring problem, we might MAKE one by putting things on the wall. IDK. Did you guys start putting paper on the wall after the kids had already been coloring them or before to prevent it?

  • I think if that's a concern then maybe you could border the paper, or Make an area designated only for this paper. Maybe go buy a big frame and attach it (pretty securely) to the wall so she can make pictures in there only, redirect her to that every time you see her coloring on walls else where.
better yet, I would get molding that goes around doors, and whatnot. Like this: http://lh6.ggpht.com/_9-70Ge6Gth8/SaHIYpK6r7I/AAAAAAAANkI/_5rf9O9s_Hg/IMG_4120_thumb%5B2%5D.jpg
    and make a frame thing!
