  • OP-per feeding and times per day

  • As much and as often as s/he needs/wants. Seriously. It varies so much per baby.

Mine started taking 8oz at 6 weeks and that was every 2-3 hours. They never slowed down until we had them on table foods!

  • Yep - as much as she needs and wants. Don't measure it. Don't try to control the ounces. Just make it and offer it to her. Her growth curve is the important thing - is she gaining length and weight in a nice, steady curve. That may mean somedays she doesn't want much and others she gulps it down. That's ok. That's what she wants and needs.

You may have heard that formula fed babies are a little more likely to grow up overweight than breastfed babies. Want to know why? Because moms who are breastfeeding can't see the ounces and don't try to get the baby to drink a certain amont or finish the last little bit in the bottle. Watch your baby and learn her cues. Let her stop when she wants to. Don't jiggle the bottle in her mouth to get her to drink more.
