what is a good bed time for a 4 & 5 year old?

  • 9:00 seems to be a pretty normal time... except depending where you live, you might want to wait until 9:30 so that it's dark outside.

  • during the school year, when my son was 5 he was in bed by 8:00 with lights/tv out by 8:30...during the summer he gets in bed by 8:30, lights out by 9...sometimes 9:30.....he always got in the shower 30 min before he was to be in bed, so he was used to the routine and never had any problems

  • my kids are 5 & 6 and go to bed during the school year between 7:30 and 8. right now, its between 8:30 and 10...we're pretty lax during the summer. with our kids, there is a window of opportunity...if they arent in bed between 7:30 and 8, it takes them forever to fall asleep.

  • My girls are 4 & 6 and they get ready for bed at 8:30 and are in the bed no later than 9:00. I find if I let them stay up later, they are impossible to wake up in the morning before 8:00am.

  • A 4 and 5 yr old should be in bed by 7:30. Little ones do their growing when they are sleeping. The experts say that they need between 10 and 11 hours of sleep time. Plus those that get a nice long rest tend to be better eaters, less sick and have better temperments. My 14 yr old goes to bed at 9 pm and is a stellar athlete, A/B student, talented musician and great kid. My 6 yr old goes to bed at 7:30 and is following in his brothers footsteps. They both get tons of rest and you can see a difference when they are short changed on their sleep time.

  • i have a son and daughter they are both 5 and 9:00 is way to late i say 7:00 because by the time they actualy get settled and got to sleep it is 7:45 that is not just my opinion my friends do it to is WORKS!!!!!! TRUST ME

  • I think between 8 and 9, depending on what time they get up. I know people talk about it being dark. And it doesn't bother my son.

  • We start the routine a little before 8:00 and usually finish bedtime stories by 8:30 or 9:00. The way I see it, if you ever have to rouse a child that young out of bed, then bedtime is too late.

  • depending on when they wake up which at this age is anywhere from 6 to 9 or so, I would say that 9-9:30 is a good time. Too late makes for a bad day lol.
