What are some good parenting books for someone who thinks the answer to every problem is to smack the kid?

  • 1-2-3 It's Magic. It is a commonsense approach to discipline without spanking. It is the only child rearing book that i read and actually followed. My son's school counselor in elementary school let me use her copy and I ended up buying my own. There is even one to help build a child's selfesteem.

  • I second "1,2,3 Magic" When I remember to stay calm, it's easy to do and really does get a magically response from my daughter. Now if I can just remember to not lose my cool!
