Gardening: Rats & other rodents eating tomatoes!!! :

My husband is going to freak out soon. We planted a beautiful veggie garden and now we see the bounty of our labor being destroyed and eaten by rats!!! Our tomatoes are being eaten. We water them, watch them grow and the next morning they have rat teeth marks in them. It is infuriating!!! Please, please offer any advice. We have tried everything except for poison as we have a toddler and a german shepherd and we don't want either to get access to the poison. Thanks!!!

  • I didn't know, either so I googled and found this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080427033917AA0Yhuz

"You can use poison without worrying about your cat. If you call the pest control dept of your local council they will bring bait boxes that are enclosed, so your cat can't get at the poison."

  • Try lime on your plants. Not lime in the fruit but powdered lime. It keeps the bugs off and the deer away. It also helps the soil.
