  • IUI is intro-unterine insemination, and IVF is intro-vitro insemination

  • IUI (intra-uterine insemination) is when the doctor inserts sperm, either from your S/O or a donor, into your vagina near your cervix with a syringe (commonly called the turkey-baster method). IVF (in-vitro fertilization) is when the doctor puts you on fertility drugs to make you ovulate, takes out whatever eggs you produce, fertilizes them in a petri dish or some such with sperm from either your S/O or a donor, then implants the fertilized egg(s) in your uterus.
