Click on the Word format of the subject you want to view. You will have to scroll down a bit but then you will see what grade levels it is referring to. These are standards are what your children will be learning throughout the year. Most of these standards will also be on the CRCT(or whatever test your state uses) test at the end of the year as well. Also, to finish answering your other questions, expect the teacher to expect more responsibility from your child. They will be entering middle school next year so the teacher will be trying to prepare them for this. As for competition- well 5th grade was rough for me, but I had friends and I didn't really care to be part of the "it" crowd. cont.

  • What state do you live in? I can find your state's standards website (if you don't already have it) that way you will know what they will be studying this year.

  • Cont. 5th grade is a bit harder but it can be fun as well. Stay involved in what your child is doing and learning in school and stay connected to the teacher through communication. Best of luck and I wish your child a wonderful school year.

  • Alabama standards can be found here. Your state has it set up a bit easier. Just click on the grade for each subject.

  • The best way to is make an appointment with the teacher just after school starts. Most of your questions should be answered at the open house
