  • Does this happen every night, or is this a one time thing? If it happens every night it sounds like your baby has his days and nights mixed up. You have to keep everything dark at night and not play or talk to the baby, just change diaper, feed, and try to put to sleep so he associates dark with sleeping for the longer periods of time. During the day he should still be taking at least 3 naps (even if they are only 30 minutes each -my baby does), but don't worry about making it dark or extremely quiet and don't let him sleep longer than 2 1/2 or 3 hours at one time during the day time naps. Play with him during the day: read him stories, tummy time, sing songs, take walks, etc. Start a bed time routine like bath, read a book, eat and then try to put him to sleep. It will take a while, but eventually he will get the hang of it. It's hard because you're exhausted from staying up all night, but you can do it! Good luck!

  • our little guy had terrible reflux and would only sleep in a swing or his fisher price soothing motions glider (its like a little baby hammock that goes front to back and side to side super sweet!) also the cd the happiest baby on the block by dr. harvey carp helped us tremendously it has an arrangement of sounds that work like magic to soothe your baby to sleep and keep them asleep longer. It was the soundtrack for our household until our son was 5 months old be forwarned if you opt for swing sleeping it is a major pain to break teh habit when they get to be to old to sleep in the swing (our little one climbed out of his the other night and is struggling with adjusting to sleepin his crib) but at the time for us it was the only answer he went from sleeping a half hour at a time to sleeping FOUR HOURS! Then a couple weeks later it was 6 hours and a couple weeks after that it was 10 you will be amazed at!
