  • Don't worry about ounces or how often, especailly don't compare her to any other kids. Feed her when she indicates she's hungry and stop when she indicates she's full. Don't wake her to feed her. Don't jiggle the bottle in her mouth to get her to "finish up".... that's the baby bottle equivalent to "clean your plate", a large no-no.

How to know she's getting enough? Look at her weight gain and height-weight ratio. Your doctor is charting those, you can too. All that matters is that her growth follows a nice steady curve.

  • mine eats every 3 hours about 6 ounces, except at night, he only wakes up once, he'll usually go to bed anywhere between 8 and 11 (depending when he last ate) and then wake once in the middle of the night for a bottle, and then not wake up again til anywhere between 8 and 10 (depends on when he wakes in the night). so he eats a total of about 6 times a day, i wouldn't be concerned about him eating 5 times a day, that sounds normal as long as he's getting 6-8 ounces at each feeding. he should have just gone to, or is about to go to the doc for his shots, and that should let you know he's growing like he should, as long as he's growing like he should he's ok and just keep taking your cues from him.
