  • jellyphish is correct - our ped told us juice and water were a huge no-no as an infant. Infant's digestive systems cannot break down juices properly and it can actually hurt them. Water is not needed until they are on foods because they need as much breast milk or formula as they can.

Please call the pediatrician when they open because your son shouldn't stay constipated until his appointment. Hope he feels well soon ♥

  • Please do not EVER give a child that young any juice or water, NOTHING besides breast milk or formula, before calling your doctor. Just call the ped, that's what (s)he's there for.

  • American Family Physician has a great information sheet about chronic constipation in kids. Their website is www.familydoctor.org and it is dated Feb. 1, 2006.

My son also had this problem. Your son will need to see the doctor and may need to have medicine or enema. If you wait to long his stool can build up and the problem get even worse.
