  • my son has had bowel issues since birth. try mirelax - its not a stimulant and can be mixed in milk/formula or water - its non addictive also - they also have baby laxative but I haven't used those though. try feeding him maybe bran muffins... I have used suppositories many times - I don't know really, My son at 20 months still works all day sometimes to get a clay like marble sized stool and we can't figure it out - I know he has some type of food allergies, but he's not staying consistant so Its hard to figure it out

  • Real fruit. Apples are great, bananas constipate.

    Prunes, plums, nectarines, apricots, etc.....

How much milk is he getting? Our doctor recommended no more than 24oz per day.

    More water.

No medications, even over the counter, unless recommended by a doctor.

Anon: People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. "joint"?

  • Well, my daughter had trouble with that and still does. Apple juice, straight as in not watered down. Change a few things as far as watch how much cheese and dairy. Whole milk seems to be binding and causing constipation.

Do you give him water to drink? Have you noticed a difference with things when you give fresh fruits and juice?

  • When my oldest was a little older than that he got a blockage. We did one serving of prunes a day. It worked really well. You can also get it in a juice form since a 1 year old may not be able to chew prunes very well.
