Why some people quick gather that since I am a stay-at-home mom I must be a WIC recipient?

A supermarket cashier asked me if I had WIC. I wish I had it! She said that she sees me often at the supermarket and she thought that since I don't work...blah...blah.

I felt a little bit offended. Let me vent ladies!

  • I was w/ my mother & the cashier asked if she was paying with food stamps. I don't know why or if she meant anything by that, but it was a bit off.

  • There isn't anything wrong with what she asked, maybe she was just asking out of routine.

  • I would have said "What the HAIL?" and then proceeded to read her up and down in my loud ass voice to make sure she felt as humiliated as she maid me feel.
