does my 2 year old need their own plane ticket?

  • Infant on lap is only good until he is 24 months, so he will need a ticket. If he turns two while on the trip, you will have to pay for the return flight.

  • It depends on the airline. Some will make you buy a seat if your child is over two.

  • All airlines make you have a seat for a 2 year old.

  • If your child is over 24 months, then yes, you'll have to buy a plane ticket. But usually the airline will give you a discounted ticket for your child.

  • i checked what it would cost for my 2 1/2 yr old and it said i have to pay for an adult ticket for him which i think is BS!

  • According to FAA regulations any child over the age of 2 needs their own ticket and seat.
    Some airlines will give a child discount, others don't.
    If on the outbound flight your child is 1, and then they have a birthday before the return the airline has to, by law, charge you for the return portion.
