Steele knows firsthand how bad the system is, why is he opposed?

Turns out that RNC chair Michael Steele, who agreed approvingly that health care failure could be Obama’s “Waterloo,” himself lacked health insurance for years and even advised his own children not to get hurt because he couldn’t afford to pay their medical bills.

A Democrat points out that these revelations can be found two pieces about Steele that ran during his failed 2006 Maryland Senate campaign. In November of that year, The Washington Post reported on Steele’s opposition to universal health care this way:

Steele’s position reflects his experience as a self-employed consultant who went for three years without health insurance.

October 2006 WaPo article:

He told an audience in a recent speech that his family went without health insurance for three years.

“Don’t break anything, because Daddy can’t afford to fix it,” he recalled telling his sons then.

Its PARTY POLITICS!

  • Steele, presumably, now has insurance, so his family doesn’t have to be quite so careful. Yet in an internal memo obtained by HuffPo, the RNC says it will “engage in every activity” to slow down a proposal that could give insurance to people who currently have to hope their kids don’t “break anything” because they “can’t afford to fix it.”

  • The issue is not that they don't want to fix the system. The issue is the way Obama andSOME of the dems in congress want to do it. The plans they have will collapse the economy and cover very few.

  • Something that unfortunately 20% of the population didn't understand back in November is that CHANGE does not equal IMPROVEMENT. If a dog stops peeing on your left foot and starts peeing on your right foot, that's change. That's about all this "Insurance Reform" plan is, too. They're switching what their aiming for, but they're still doing the same damn thing.

Sadder still that it only takes 20% of the population to win a presidential election, but that's for a different question.

The plans they have will collapse the economy and cover very few. It will cover 97% and the economy will collapse if we do nothing

Just like unemployment would go as high as 9% if they didn't pass Obama's stimulus back a few months ago?

Sweet, currently 80% of Americans have health insurance.  Here is one they proposed and it was shot down WITHOUT debate.

Where do you get it will bankrupt the nation?

I went through life without insurance once, too. But that DOES NOT mean I want to jump of the Obama Cliff. They need to meet in the middle and Obama, Pelosi, and Ried, WILL NOT!
