What does this mean? (Tracking a package through USPS.)

"The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on July 23, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later."

Does that mean that onthe 23rd (today) I'll recieve the package? Or that on the 23rd, it will be shipped out?

  • It means the shipper used electronic means to print a shipping label from USPS on the 23rd. Usually the shippers are responsible enough to mail it out the same day; it SHOULD be mailed the same day since it's going to be marked the 23rd.

USPS is not too diligent at updating their information. The tracking status may still say the same thing even after the pkg is in your hands.

  • It means tha the shipper printed their postage out and that they will be shipping it out on the 23ed. Now please remember the USPS site is not always reliable and you cannot always track a package. If you cannot and really want to track it call the 800 number and give them your tracking number they should be able to track it.
