Do you have any infant nail trimming secrets?

  • Wait until they are asleep. When mine were really young (under 3 months) I would just use a file and file them down every other day. Get the trimmers just for infants and there are even some that have magnifying glasses attached to them (haven't used this myself though).

  • I found them easier to cut after bathtime.

  • cut them when they are soft after a bath, they won't even feel it.

  • I wait until they are asleep. That way there is no pulling away or involuntary movements. I clip the edge and slowly tear the rest. They sell baby nail clippers that are easy to use too.
