does anyone know what a elevated liver enzyme could mean?

  • Oh wow.....too many things to list quickly. Could be caused from taking excessive amounts of anti-inflammatories, could be caused from chirrosis (there are many types and only a few involve alcohol), could be an effect of long-term prescription medication use, just way too many things to list. Is your doc going to follow these levels with you? I would ask all of the questions that I could think (making a list before the visit so that no question will be forgotten)...and just see what might be at the root of the problem.

  • It is a sign of liver damage from meds, alcohol or genetics. You need to follow up with an internist on this. Nothing to mess with.
