Are the Democrats on the Hill falling apart?

The seven Blue Dogs on the Energy and Commerce Committee stormed out of a Friday meeting with their committee chairman, Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), saying Waxman had been negotiating in bad faith over a number of provisions Blue Dogs demanded be changed in the stalled healthcare bill.
“I’ve been lied to,” Blue Dog Coalition Co-Chairman Charlie Melancon (D-La.) said on Friday. “We have not had legitimate negotiations…
If the two sides cannot reach an agreement, the only hope for passage of the bill in the House will be to go straight to the floor, an option leaders shied away from endorsing but said was an option.
But the Blue Dogs issued dire warnings to leaders contemplating that approach.
“Waxman simply does not have votes in committee and process should not be bypassed to bring the bill straight to floor,” Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.), the lead Blue Dog negotiator, said on Friday.

  • We have not had legitimate negotiations"…~Co-Chairman Charlie Melancon (D-La.) said on Friday.

Ummm isn't this what Republicans in the House have been saying for months now???

  • Isn't it crazy? I also don't understand the rush, when the health care plan wouldn't even be implemented for another 3 1/2 years! Oh, wait, yes I do! As unemployment continues to rise, Obama's popularity continues to fall (despite what the libs on here say!), and if it doesn't get passed by say Christmas, it ain't gonna happen, as only those who no longer wish to have a job in politics in an election year (2010) will vote in favor of something like this! LOL

The Dem leaders are BESIDE themselves, I seriously don't think they've ever been questioned or heckled before, and they don't know how to react, so they're making threats, demands, and forcing things to happen without due process. Oh, to be a fly on the wall!!! LOL

But even if they bring it to the floor for a vote, you have at least 39 of the 52 Blue Dogs against it, I believe all Republicans are against it, so where are there going to be enough votes to pass it?

  • The reason for the hurry is because the more people see what they are trying to pass the more they will be against it. The bill is insane. They also moved to have illegals be a part of the healthcare plan.

  • What a surprise. In the past, moderate Democrats had the Republicans to balance them out, so they could follow party lines and still count on bills being stopped. Now they have to stand up and declare themselves.
