Jewish burial service?

My Methodist grandmother-in-law was buried last week beside her late husband in a Jewish cemetery (he was non-practicing). She had requested no service, but it was required that a Rabbi say a blessing.

Just curious what is traditionally said... Her oldest son and wife were the only ones who attended given it was out of town and the funeral was held the day before.

  • Tradtionally, a prayer called the Kaddish is said after the body is buried. The Kaddish praises G-d and thanks G-d for creating the earth
