What are some good fundraisers for children ages 10-14 to raise for a summer vacation

All of the kids want to take a Summer cruise for next year 2010 and want to raise money towards going.

  • I know that the band of our high school raised a ton of money by setting up a Christmas Gift Wrapping center in the local mall. The price was $5 per package to be wrapped and any donations anyone wanted to make. They had nicely computer printed signs throughout the mall and where they were at to promote their group and why they were raising the money. They set up the tables in a large square so they were inside the square and the customers could have a lot of room at all 4 tables. They had a TON of wrapping paper and tape - customers did their own tags I think - and it was great! Oh, and they wore their high school sweatshirts to show team spirit and some of the band members played Christmas songs nearby.

  • if old enough, let them do light yard work for older neightbors for a set rate, that way you dont have to keep coming up with different ideas, anything you work for it (yards, making crafts, cookies, wrapping paper is a great idea- knew a youth group that raised tons of money for that - wrapping was free but donations were incouraged. - amazing what people will shell out at xmas to get a chore done!)

  • The 14 year old can contact the Red Cross and find out where to take a babysitting class. My 13 year old earns $7 an hour. Parents prefer a mature teen who knows CPR and basic first aid to a flighty college student
