Just wondering!! I'm 7 months....

I was wondering if anyone knows when does the dr start to check your cervix to see if ur starting to dialate or your cervix is thaning out.. at what week usaully does the dr start to check?

  • If I remember correctly it's around 36 weeks.

  • Yea, I have yet to be checked, will be at next appt when I am 36 weeks.

  • they do it at 36 weeks but if u go to the hospital for any reason they check.. like I went in the other night cause i was having some pains and they checked and I was 2.5 cm dilated and I know my dr will check tomorrow cause that is my 36 week appt and I think every week after 36 they check

  • my doc started at 37 weeks and i was not dilated then one week later at 38 weeks i was 2cm

  • I'm going with the midwives at our hospital and they don't do it until you go past your due date. Unless you want them to, then they start at 38 weeks. I'll be 36 weeks on Thursday and haven't decided if I want them to do it when I get to 38 weeks or not. I don't want to obsess about it and think maybe ignorance will be bliss. I might change my tune in two weeks, though. So who knows.

  • With my first child I wasn't checked at all until I went to the hospital in labor (at 36 weeks). With my second child I asked to be checked at 38 weeks because of going into preterm labor with my first child. With my third child I was checked at 38 weeks after a non-stress test showed I was having contractions.
