  • a. She could be going through a growth spurt and her needs are greater.

    b. It's your job to control her portion sizes and snacks. Don't order her an adult sized meal, only half orders or kid's meals.

    c. I could barely eat much at one time when I was carrying twins. Are you making a fair comparison?

  • She could be going through a growth spurt. If you really feel you should limit what she eats- limit variety and portion size. If you only have one protein and one side- you'll eat less than if you have two or three side options. Eating more often will also keep you from over-eating at meals. Healthy snacks can do wonders!

  • Both of my kids eat more than other children. They're healthy, thin, and very active. Some days they eat more than others (lately my daughter won't eat dinner while my son eats double and sometimes tripple portions). I used to worry about it but they show no signs of ill health from it, and I make sure what they eat for snacks are healthy foods like fruit.

If your daughter is at a healthy weight, active, and eating healthy foods then I wouldn't worry. If she's eating a lot of junk then I would regulate how much she eats of that or just not let her eat it at all.

  • Is she putting on weight? If not perhaps she is going through a growth spurt? If you are really concerned about the amt she eats I would contact her doctor to make sure nothing else is going on like Diabetes. Good luck.

  • My sons like that. I have to manage what he eats. He's not allowed seconds. He's 40lbs. overweight so I have to control him.

  • As long as she is eating healthy foods, I wouldn't worry, since she's still young. If she's eating four cookies, then year, you need to cut her off. But if she's eating an extra serving or two of salad, then I would encourage her healthy eating habits!

  • If she is eating too many sweets, simply tell her she is only allowed one sweet after dinner, those are the rules, that's final. If she's eating extra meat, extra salad, extra veggies, I wouldn't worry at all!

  • I know kids can seem like they are eating you out of house and home and go through some major growth spurts, but maybe this is a medicalproblem if you've noticed considerable increses in her food ask a doctor!

  • If she isn't chubby, I wouldn't worry about it- my ten year old eats more than I do, but she is growing really fast! As long as it is healthy food.

If weight is a problem- don't buy snack food! We never have chips or cookies in the house at all. My kids snack on yogurt and fruit, etc.

Also, make a rule that she has to eat at the table. If she has to sit down at the table (no t.v.) to eat, she will stop eating out of habit.
