  • yes! alcohol can kill off sperm-generating cells in the testicals, which would temporarily cause his sperm count to be very low. Long-term alcohol use can cause his sperm count to be low permanently.

  • NO I DONT THINK ALCOHOL HAS NOTHIN TO DO WITH U NOT CONCEIVING...JUST LIKE WEED DOSNT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH OUT BEING ABLE TO CONCEIVE OR NOT...ITS JUST ALL ABOUT UR BODY...U SHOULD GET PRESCRIBED SOME PRENATAL PILLS...

  • yeah alcohol (and weed!) have everything in the world to do with fertility. why do people think their bodies will run just fine on God-knows-what? Would a cat still be perfectly healthy, and thus capable of conceiving, if they ate tons of chocolate every day? no!

  • LOL Tanya. You are so right about that.. also unlike alcohol, weed doesn't just make equipment malfunction, but it also makes men's testicles shrink as well as raises their risk for testicular cancer... plus.. smoking weed makes the swimmers slow and lethargic as well as more prone to creating genetic abnormalities in the children concieved (I.E. Trisomy). Hence forth why they tell you to abstain from ALL recreational drug and alcohol use when you are TTC. ;-)

  • They say in books with trying to conceive it can cause delay in getting pregnant. Every couple is different some can get pregnant because they were drunk. It's just that if your husband is drinking lots of beer, it might be good for him to cut back a bit.
I believe that just cutting back can increase your chances, if you've trying for a while, then maybe he should just but the cans down all together while your trying. Don't be to hard on yourselves, it could even be that it's stress related. good luck to you!

  • yes it does. a woman i know had her husband stop drinking before they started their fertility treatments and when she took the pg test before the treatment, she found out she was pg. after several yrs of not getting pg, she finally was after he stopped drinking.

  • Yes, that is enough to affect his sperm count. He needs to cut back to 2 a day while TTC. Also, drinking coffee helps a man's sperm count. Coffee decreases a woman's fertility, but increases a man's.
