  • that is strange. I have never heard of that, I think you can order them on your own by going to the council store, I usually call and place an order with the store and have it shipped because we are an hour from a store.

  • Yeah i am about an hour from the store myself and dont want to drive that far. I had never heard of this either it bew my mind when i saw it and my daughter was so disappointed when she didnt have the badges in hand to add to her vest!

  • When I was in scouts, the troup leader would order them and send them home with us for our mothers to sew on. We had huge Girl Scout books. Now days I suppose everything is online.

  • My mom was our troop leader. She ordered them for us girls before we earned them or afterward if we did them on our own.

  • I've been a GS leader for years now and I'm not really surprised that they did that. They gave you the list so that they're not footing the bill for all the badges - not to mention the fact that not all the girls that attend will actually earn all the same badges. It wouldn't hurt to ask your daughter's leader to pick up the badges when she gets others, but, in all likelihood, you're going to have to pay for those. It may be just as easy for you to order them online and have them delivered directly to you. OR you can ask the leader if the troop will be earning those badges during the year and just have her give your daughter the badges with the rest of the girls. Just talk to the leader. :)
