Advice on potty training a 3 year old boy?

He has been doing really well with pooing in the potty. He hasn't had and accident in about 3 weeks. But he always pees in his diaper. We don't use pull ups too often because they are expensive. I need advice on how to get him to pee and poo in the potty all the time. ESPECIALLY pee! The pooing part is going well!

  • Stop using pull-ups and diapers. Put him in underwear all day, even if it means he pees in them....eventually he'll realize having pee running down his leg isn't a very good feeling and he'll make it to the toilet before he has to pee the next time (or several times later). Only use pull-ups or diapers at night if you're worried about accidents at night. We bought a waterproof mattress pad for our sons bed and put him in underwear at night too.....we got lucky though and he's only ever had one accident at night (he's almost 5 now and was fully trained at 4). Make sure he doesn't drink anything at least an hour before bedtime....that should help immensely. I agree with scooterpooter too.....having him be in the bathroom while his dad or brother is going is a good idea...he'll be curious and want to imitate patient, it gets better (till they pee and miss the pot...that's just gross to clean up) :oP
