  • when my baby was 7 months old, he was still mostly eating experimentally. i fed him some oatmeal or other cereal (not rice, because that made him constipated) in the morning, a small jar of fruit or veggies sometime in the afternoon, and maybe one more serving of fruit, veggies, or cereal before bed, if he wanted it. i remember being unsure of how much he should have, but you can't really do it wrong, because they still rely on their breastmilk or formula for their main nutrition, and they generally won't overeat. so just experiment and as your baby grows, you will get a better idea of how much they need.

  • My son is almost 9 months and he eats generally what we eat as a family, supplemented by a cup of expressed breastmilk or formula. (for lunch he ate 1/2 whole wheat waffle and a handful of blueberries, cut up and 4 oz of bmilk) Appetites in little ones vary greatly, so you just have to judge on what's right for your child, and know that he is still getting everything he needs from his formula or breastmilk.
