  • Most beneficial? Any language you can learn is beneficial but if you are actually considering taking classes I would think it would be either Spanish or Japanese. Personally I want to learn French and Greek and finish learning German!

  • The most useful 2nd language to learn in this country would be Spanish.
The 2nd most useful language to learn would be Mandarin Chinese.

Latin is a great language to know, especially if you are going to study law, medicine, etc, but not terribly useful conversationally.

  • Spanish, for sure. I took three years of it in high school but forgot most of it. It was enough to get me around Spain, though. It is very easy to learn.

  • I would probably say Chinese. Spanish is a close 3rd tho. China is so big and getting to be such a mainstream place for all sorts of industries and such that chances are our children will have to interact with a chinese-speaking colleague at some point in their working life. My aunt is chinese, so my daughter will have an advantage by learning from her and my cousins.
