Skipping a scheduled nap...is this normal?

My son will be 7 months on the 2nd. Here lately he has been skipping one of his 3 scheduled naps. It started off his morning nap, and today he took his morning nap but skipped his noon nap...and he is WIDE awake but with heavy eyes though. Is it normal for him to start skipping a nap time now?

  • Shoot...mine only took 2 starting at about 6 months.

Time to readjust the schedule, mom!

  • if he's skipping naps then chances are he doesn't need that many anymore. My daughter was about 5 months when we started doing 2 naps a day (your so lucky!!) It may take some patience, and some days at first he will probably still want 3 naps, but you can start keeping him up a little bit and readjusting your schedule so that he takes 2 naps a day instead of 3.

  • That's what is wrong with "scheduled" anything dealing with babies... they don't care! :0) As they grow, their bodies will adjust and require different amounts of sleep. Mine have all done that as well- and will readjust again when they have a new growth spurt!
